Description of Short Course

This course introduces students to enhance appreciation and critical thinking in various art genres. Most art enthusiasts aim to communicate their ideas innovatively. However, they do not have a vocabulary, ideas, or conceptions for this. Now you may improve your ability to criticise, critique, and appreciate the creative arts. We want to discuss major art theories and artworks from the Classical, Modern, and Contemporary periods. This course is appropriate for all who need to develop their appreciation for art by examining philosophical implications, whether they are students of philosophy, art, or those looking for a better understanding of cultural expression.

Objectives
1. Identify the fundamentals of appreciation and criticism of creative arts
2. Critically reflect and review selected creative works
3. Analyse creative works using different philosophical frameworks
4. Evaluate ethical implications of artistic expression
5. Synthesise philosophical ideas into creative art appreciation and criticism

  • Participation: 10% (Engagement in class discussions, workshops, and peer reviews)
  • Assignments I: 20% (Week II)
  • Assignments II: 30% (Week V)
  • Final Project: 40% (end of the course)
