SHORT COURSE ON SCREEN ACTING

Description of Short Course

Screen or film/Television acting is defined as a specific skill area and knowledge base where actors work with highly developed cinematic technology. Actors who work in theatre for a long time have different skill levels and they master continual character portrayal. Their super objectives are continual and culminate through the process of acting defined by the duration of the play. Yet in film acting, the actor’s work is fragmented and discontinued through technological interventions. The actor who works in the film contributes to enhancing the artistic outcomes through her own way of working within the film's framework and understanding the profession's technological requirements. Therefore the Faculty of Graduate Studies, UVPA Colombo introduces a short course on screen acting to provide the required skills and knowledge for beginner and emerging actors to gain further qualification through practical and theoretical explorations on screen acting as a crash course.
