Vision<\/strong><\/h3>\n

To establish a nationally connected and internationally visible research network that advances interdisciplinary, practice-based, and community-engaged creative arts research<\/strong>, contributing meaningfully to cultural knowledge, public discourse, and policy development.<\/p>\n

Objectives<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The objectives of establishing the Creative Arts Research Network (CARN) are to:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Foster interdisciplinary research<\/strong> across the visual and performing arts and related academic fields.<\/li>\n
  • Facilitate knowledge exchange and collaborative scholarship<\/strong> among academics, artist-researchers, and institutions.<\/li>\n
  • Enhance the regional and international visibility of Sri Lankan arts research<\/strong> through strategic dissemination, networking, and advocacy efforts.<\/li>\n
  • Encourage practice-based and community-engaged research<\/strong> that responds to local cultural contexts, lived experiences, and contemporary social issues.<\/li>\n
  • Promote creative innovation<\/strong> by recognizing artistic practice as a mode of research and knowledge production.<\/li>\n
  • Foster critical dialogue on creativity, culture, and the role of the arts in society<\/strong>, supporting informed academic debate and arts and cultural policy development.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Activities<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    To achieve its objectives, CARN will undertake a range of academic and creative activities, including:<\/p>\n

    • Knowledge-sharing forums and public lectures<\/li>\n
    • Practice-based research presentations and artist\u2013researcher showcases<\/li>\n

    • Community-engaged research initiatives and outreach programmes<\/li>\n
    • Research dissemination through publications, digital platforms, and exhibitions<\/li>\n
